What are Gallstones?
First thing first. You have almost certainly heard of gallstones, but might not be entirely clear about what they are.
Gallstones are small lumps or stones that form in the gallbladder or bile duct. These hard
stones are normally made up of:
- Calcium Carbonate
- Calcium Bilirubinate
These are chemicals that are found in the gallbladder normally, and gallstones are formed when they solidify into a solid mass. Researches from the University of Southern California, the Keck School of Medicine, have described a gallstone passing through the bile duct as similar to trying to squeeze a golf ball through a straw.
Obviously, if you have gallstones, you are probably experiencing some painful flare ups and ready to get the skinny on home remedies that may help you!
Home Remedies for Gallstones
We’re told that there’s nothing new under the sun and home remedies are no exception. In fact, for thousands of years, home remedies were the only way for people to get treatment for health conditions and problems since there were rarely any healers, doctors or medically knowledgeable persons about.
Gallstones are nothing new, either, hence you will find quite a few home remedies for them. Here are a few home remedies for gallstones that may interest you:
- Combine one ounce of olive oil with an equal amount of sunflower oil and drink this mixture, then follow with about four ounces of grapefruit juice. Do this daily for 4-5 days and it should help to flush the stones.
- Drink eight ounces of pure apple juice very day for 4-6 weeks and this should flush any gallstones.
- Before going to bed, drink eight ounces of extra virgin olive oil combined with four ounces of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Afterward, go immediately to bed. Some people advocate lying on your side all night. In the morning, take a good fast acting laxative such as citrate of magnesia. Obviously, the laxative will cause you to develop diarrhea, which in this case is a good thing because it will eliminate all the gallstones that passed out of your gallbladder and bile duct as you slept. It would seem prudent to try this home remedy on the weekend or whenever you don’t have to get up and go to work (or anywhere else) the next day.
- Lecithin granules are another highly favored home remedy for gallstones. The recommended amount is 2-3 teaspoons of liquid taken daily for about a month.
Try one or more of these home remedies for gallstones if you are having problems with them. You have nothing to lose except some hardened lumps of chemicals that you don’t want anyway!
